Shakoki Dogu T-Shirt | Jomon Clay Figurine Design | Japanese Archaeology Art
Shakoki Dogu T-Shirt | Jomon Clay Figurine Design | Japanese Archaeology Art
About This Product
An original T-shirt by Hasegawa Shizen Kobo featuring the iconic “Shakoki Dogu” excavated from the Kamegaoka Site in Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture.
The Shakoki Dogu is one of the most representative clay figurines from the Final Jomon period. Its name comes from its unusually large eyes, which resemble traditional snow goggles once used in snowy regions.
One of the best-known Shakoki Dogu figures excavated from the Kamegaoka Site was discovered in 1887 (Meiji 20) and is now exhibited at the Tokyo National Museum.
Its distinctive large eyes, rounded body, intricate patterns, and unique proportions give it a remarkably creative appearance that feels surprisingly modern despite having been made thousands of years ago.
This T-shirt is recommended not only for people interested in Jomon culture, archaeology, and Japanese history, but also for those who enjoy distinctive and unconventional Japanese cultural designs.
About the Design
The front of the shirt features a large image inspired by the distinctive form of the Shakoki Dogu.
The design highlights its oversized eyes, intricate decorative patterns, and characteristic proportions, allowing you to enjoy the unique sculptural beauty of this ancient clay figure.
Rather than presenting it simply as an archaeological artifact, the design was created with the idea of appreciating the Shakoki Dogu as a work of art created by the people of the Jomon period.
It also makes a great gift for anyone who enjoys museums, archaeological sites, historical exploration, or Jomon culture.

How to Read the Measurements
Width: Measured across the garment while laid flat
Length: Measured from the shoulder area to the bottom hem
Sleeve length: Based on the manufacturer's stated measurement method, measured from the center back to the sleeve end
Please note that actual measurements may vary by approximately ±1.5 in (±3.81 cm) due to manufacturing tolerances and the garment-dyeing process.
If you are unsure which size to choose, we recommend measuring a T-shirt you already own while laid flat and comparing it with the size chart above.
