Ring-Spun Cotton

Ring-spun cotton is a type of cotton fabric made using yarn that is created by twisting and thinning cotton fibers as they are spun.

Compared with standard cotton fabrics, it tends to have a smoother surface and a softer feel against the skin. The twisting process also helps improve the strength of the yarn, making it well suited for everyday garments such as T-shirts and polo shirts.

Another advantage of its relatively smooth surface is that it works well with printed designs.

When selecting our products, we consider not only the design, but also comfort and the characteristics of the materials used.

About Garment Dyeing

Garment dyeing is a dyeing method in which the T-shirt is dyed after it has been fully sewn and completed.

Unlike conventional T-shirts that are dyed at the fabric stage, garment-dyed shirts develop natural variations in color around the seams and across the surface of the fabric. This creates a soft, relaxed appearance with a slightly worn-in, vintage-like feel.

As the shirt is worn and washed over time, the color and texture may gradually change, allowing each piece to develop its own unique character.

We hope you enjoy the natural look and feel that are unique to garment-dyed clothing, together with our designs inspired by the landscapes and culture of Japan.

About Printing and Production

We use different printing and production methods depending on the product.

T-Shirts — DTG (Direct-to-Garment) Printing

Water-based ink is printed directly onto the fabric, allowing detailed designs and a wide range of colors to be reproduced.

Because the printed areas remain relatively soft and breathable, we design our maps, kanji artwork, and other graphics with balanced transparency and print coverage whenever possible.

■ Polo Shirts — Embroidery
The design is stitched using a specialized embroidery machine, creating a textured, three-dimensional finish.

How to Choose Your Size

The size charts on each product page are available in both METRIC (cm) and IMPERIAL (inch) measurements. Both show the same garment dimensions in different units.

Customers in Japan may find the METRIC (cm) measurements easier to use.

Some of our products are made by overseas manufacturers, so the sizing may feel slightly larger or more relaxed than typical Japanese clothing.

We recommend choosing your size by comparing the actual measurements of a garment you already own with the size chart on the product page, rather than relying only on size labels such as S, M, or L.

Please Check Before Ordering

Our products are made to order and produced after your order is placed.

■ Shipping
Some products are shipped directly from our partner facilities overseas. As a result, delivery to Japan may take longer than standard domestic online shopping. Please place your order with sufficient time before you need the item.

■ Cancellations
Please request any cancellation within 1 hour of placing your order. After that time, production procedures may begin, and cancellations generally cannot be accepted.

■ Returns and Exchanges
Because our products are made to order, we generally do not accept returns or exchanges for customer-related reasons, such as selecting the wrong size or color, or if the product differs from your expectations.

■ Damaged Items, Printing Defects, or Incorrect Orders
If your item arrives damaged, has a printing defect, or is different from what you ordered, please contact us through our “Contact” page within 14 days of delivery and include photos clearly showing the condition of the item. After reviewing the details, we will arrange an appropriate solution, such as a replacement, reproduction, or refund.

■ Refunds
If your order qualifies for a refund due to a defective, damaged, or incorrectly delivered item, we will review the details and process the refund as appropriate.

For full details regarding returns, exchanges, cancellations, and refunds, please review our Refund Policy at the bottom of the page.

About Hasegawa Shizen Kobo

Hello, my name is John, and I run Hasegawa Shizen Kobo.

The map shown on the right brings together 28 roadside stations and the road network of Aomori Prefecture. I research roads, roadside stations, and regional landscapes, visit these places in person, and turn the maps themselves into T-shirt designs.

The perspective I have developed as a Professional Engineer in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Division and the Comprehensive Technical Management Division—carefully researching, observing, and turning information into a clear form—also plays an important role in my mapmaking and product design.

Rather than simply illustrating the scenery and culture of Japan, I visit the places myself, travel the roads, see them firsthand, and turn what I experience into a single T-shirt.

That is the approach to craftsmanship behind Hasegawa Shizen Kobo.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our store.

Here is a small glimpse of the scenery of Aomori from Hasegawa Shizen Kobo.

Please enjoy the view of Mt. Iwaki from above.
