The Omagari Fireworks is widely known as one of Japan’s three most famous fireworks festivals and is one of the country’s most prestigious fireworks events.

The competition began in 1910 and has a long history as a national fireworks competition in which pyrotechnicians from across Japan launch fireworks they have created themselves and compete in technical skill, artistry, and expression.

At the summer competition, the highest honor awarded is the Prime Minister’s Prize.

At the 98th National Fireworks Competition, held on August 29, 2026, a wide variety of fireworks — from daytime fireworks to spectacular nighttime displays — filled the sky over Akita.

The design of this T-shirt was created by selecting one especially memorable moment from footage actually recorded on-site that day and adapting it for apparel.

The fireworks were not newly created by AI. This design is based on fireworks that were actually launched into the night sky at Omagari on August 29, 2026.

About the Design

From the fireworks that illuminated the night sky at Omagari, we selected a striking moment in which golden light spreads dramatically across the sky.

The design makes use of the contrast between the deep night sky and the warm golden glow of the fireworks, preserving the unique atmosphere of a single photographic moment.

Because the design is based on footage actually recorded at the event, it is more than simply a fireworks illustration. It can also be enjoyed as a visual record of the 2026 Omagari Fireworks and the night sky of that day.
