An original photo T-shirt by Hasegawa Shizen Kobo, created from footage personally recorded at the Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks Show held in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, in the summer of 2026.

The Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks Show is known as one of Japan’s Three Great Fireworks Festivals and is one of the country’s most celebrated fireworks events. It is held every year on August 2 and 3 along the banks of the Shinano River, carrying forward prayers for those who lost their lives in the Nagaoka air raid, hopes for recovery from the devastation of war, and a lasting wish for peace.

For this T-shirt, I selected a particularly memorable moment from the footage I personally recorded at the 2026 Nagaoka Fireworks: a magnificent burst of fireworks filling the night sky, with Chosei Bridge, one of Nagaoka’s landmarks, clearly visible below.

The fireworks were not newly created with AI. This design is based on actual fireworks launched into the night sky over Nagaoka in 2026.

About the Design

The front features a photograph of large fireworks spreading across the night sky with Chosei Bridge below.

Against the deep black night sky, warm layers of light expand outward. I selected this moment not only for the power of the fireworks themselves, but also because it captures the unique scene of the fireworks and the city of Nagaoka coming together as one.

The Nagaoka Fireworks carry wishes for remembrance, recovery, and peace. Rather than treating the image simply as a beautiful fireworks photograph, this T-shirt was created as a record of a real scene witnessed in Nagaoka and the atmosphere felt there on that night.

It is recommended as a travel souvenir or summer memory, as well as a gift for people who love Japanese fireworks culture or the city of Nagaoka.
